Margaret R. Battles

Margaret R. Battles of Charlottesville VA passed away on October 21, 2017 @ Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge VA after a battle with Melanoma. Margaret was born in Oswego NY on August 12, 1949, the second of nine children born to  Willard and Ruth Battles.  She grew up in Port Leyden NY and was a member of the last graduating class of Port Leyden Central School in 1967. Margaret graduated from Monroe Community College in Rochester NY in 1969 with an AAS degree in Dental Hygiene.  She worked as a dental hygienist for many years until her retirement.

Margaret is survived by her four children. Lincoln (Tania) Beatty, Whitby Ontario Canada; Sarah Beatty of Hamilton Ont. Canada; Rachel Simon of Charlottesville, VA; and John Simon of Charlottesville VA. She had two grandchildren Suraya and William Beatty of Whitby Ont. Canada.  Four sisters: Cheryl Battles (Rochester NY), Martha (Lyle) Robbins, Sandy Creek NY, Amy Lampasona Utica NY and Angela (David) Hill Woodbridge VA. Three Brothers: Timothy (Lynne) Battles Paduka KY, Thomas (Shirley) Battles Boonville NY and Russel Battles Port Leyden NY. She also had 21 nieces and nephews and 24 great nieces and nephews.

Margaret is predeceased by her brother Norris Battles who died in 2013. Ruth Battles passed away in 1994 and Willard Battles died in 2001.

A memorial service and internment will be held in Port Leyden NY in the spring.
