Passing on May 10, 2018 leaves a deeply distraught husband, whose life feels empty without her limitless love, boundless enthusiasm, and passionate loyalty. Whether it was working on a tropical island, hiking the Grand Canyon, conjuring up atrocious puns, or doggedly pursuing a history project, there was always mutuality. A home once filled with a warm spirit now echoes with emptiness. There was not only a lively and enduring tenderness, but also a host of temporal accomplishments, usually veiled by her innate modestly: a Juilliard scholarship; voluntarily teaching hundreds of children to swim; taking dozens of children to see The Nutcracker at the San Francisco Opera House, perfection in dental assisting and court transcribing; rescuing and adopting four dogs, six cats, and a horse; being commissioned a Kentucky Colonel; and creating an 80,000-name database of Civil War courts-martial. But transcending all these was her warm heart, which leaves behind her grieving husband, Thomas P. Lowry, son, Samuel LeCount, sisters, Janet Detels, Sharon Montooth and Diana Montooth, and six grandchildren. Private services to be announced.
